Today’s lovely real wedding comes to us from wedding planner (and bride!) Sarah Basch of Without A Hitch, Boston, MA! Here’s Sarah to tell us more:

I started Without A Hitch in 2013 after seeing a niche that wasn’t being filled – competent day-of coordination services for couples that want to be hands-on in the planning process.  We quickly grew from 9 weddings the first year to more than 40 this year. We work with couples all over New England, but mostly in the greater Boston area, who have a distinct vision and want help in executing it.

See more after the cut!

Which brings me back to my own wedding.  I wasn’t one of those brides that had a vision from the start.  All I knew was that I wanted it to be special. John and I had a limited budget, so we sat down to figure out the most important things to both of us.  We focused a lot on the ceremony, working with a JOP on the text that would make our guests laugh and cry and feel connected.  We wanted a big dance party. We wanted toasts that felt personal and a vibe that was simple and romantic. And we wanted a way to honor and remember those who couldn’t be there to celebrate with us.

The wedding canopy (or chuppah) that we got married under perfectly encapsulated the wedding planning experience.  The fabric was hand knit by my mother.  At a pre-wedding ceremony, the rabbi at our local temple wrapped John and me up in the chuppah fabric and blessed us and our future family.  We attach the fabric to birch poles which were passed on to us from one of my former clients, who had carved their name and wedding date into them.  And the poles were secured into copper painted buckets that John created. He joked that he “cemented” our love :)
