Ilona from Paper Sherbet has a lot to share with us today! Along with some words of wisdom, she brings us photos of her great design work. Thank you so much, Ilona!
1. How did you get started doing wedding invitations?
After graduating in Graphic Design I worked in the corporate world of design for a while until a friend asked me to design her wedding invitations. I enjoyed it so much that i saw there was a place in the invitation world for stationery with contemporary and fresh graphic design pizzazz.

This wedding comes to us from Celeste of WeddingInviteLove’s Impress Me Designs! Full of luxurious Tartan Plaid and details out the wazoo, Emilie Inc. Photography captured it all. Thanks so much for sharing!
We are best known for our custom invitation design and the use of unique materials and fabrics within the design. We have quite a following for our Tartan Plaid design and this is what caught the attention of Linda Taylor Schuler (mother of the bride) and Emily Schuler (bride). As the owner of the boutique, LINDA TAYLOR Designs in Portsmouth, NH, Linda was right at home with offering her designer’s eye for her daughter’s wedding along with the vision of Amy Piper of Signature events to pull everything together. She sourced out the fabric and had it imported from the UK for use not only in our invitation design, but also all the linens for the reception were customized. We tied everything in from the invitations, dance floor GOBO, ceremony programs and thank you notes to these adorable custom picnic basket favors with “mock” tartan blankets adorning the top that also served as guest seating cards.
Emily and Tyler live in New York city and they came back to Emily’s hometown to have their wedding in Rye Beach, New Hampshire. The reception took place at the Abenaqui Country Club.

We’re headed to NYC for the National Stationery Show again this year! Last year, it was just Tracy (you may have seen her running around with cookies!). This year, I’m going along with her – we’ve grown SO MUCH in the last year and want to make sure we stop and say hello to as many of our vendors as possible. Have we mentioned that we are over 1k vendors now? While we’re there, we hope to meet even more new stationers to add to the WeddingInviteLove directory.
We’ll be having a WeddingLovely Meetup at Etsy Labs in Dumbo/Brooklyn on May 21, 2012 from 7pm-9pm. We’re stoked that Etsy is letting us use their space and can’t wait to meet all of you! The WeddingLovely team is thrilled to celebrate how far we’ve come in the last year and thought that NYC would be the perfect place to do just that! My birthday is the next day, so I’ll consider it my birthday party too (I’m so excited to turn 29 again!!)
WeddingLovely vendors, want to help with our meetup? WeddingLovely, 5th Avenue Weddings & Etsy are sponsoring this wonderful event. We’d love it if you have any ideas, want to donate some stuff for a giveaway, know of a great cupcake bakery, or anything else related to throwing an amazing party! Just email us at [email protected]
Michelle, a talented stationer from Little Toad, put together today’s post for us. She put a lot of time into this post and we thank her! I am sure you will too, because she did a fabulous job putting together the wedding trends for 2012. Thanks Michelle!
We are already far into the New Year and no doubt by now you have broken your resolutions and vowed never to give up chocolate cake as a breakfast item again. Aside from those New Year changes one of the biggest changes occurs in the wedding industry, the hottest new trends. From what colors are hot and what patterns are so last season to which reoccurring themes you probably be seeing if you are attending or planning a wedding. So what are the newest trends of 2012? Well I have searched the internet, bridal magazines and lost many a days on Pinterest, to highlight the top 12 trends of 2012.
It may sound like a stop to get your oil changed but instead it’s a very simplistic yet classic geometric pattern. This pattern looks good in a variety of colors or is just as strong in black and white. It can be incorporated into your wedding in a multitude of designs and mediums (paper and/or fabric). The other great aspect of this pattern is that it can be used as an accent but isn’t overpowering as a dominant element.

The Spring WeddingLovely Lookbook is coming!
The WeddingLovely team has a very busy next few weeks as the Lookbook comes together. If you aren’t familiar, we put together the WeddingLovely Lookbook twice a year (spring and fall) which features ALL vendors. So whether you have a basic free profile, or an upgraded profile – you’ll be featured in its pages. Woo hoo! But in addition to our listings, we’re also opening up the pages to advertisers who are not already listed on the WeddingLovely vendor network!
6 Lookbooks featuring all 5 vendor directories
This spring’s Lookbook will feature over 1,000 wedding vendors! You can see the Fall WeddingLovely Lookbook here. You’ll notice that last year’s version only featured invitations – this year it will contain all five of our vendor directories. We are also doing 5 location specific versions for our larger markets: San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York City, Chicago, and Washington D.C.
Just a reminder….
- All vendors (paid or not) in the WeddingLovely Network will have a listing in the Lookbook.
- Upgraded vendors will have a 1/2 page spread…
- …and (new for this version) upgraded vendors who have paid for a year’s upgraded account will have a full page spread.
- The Lookbook will also feature some of the best guest posts from the blog.
Currently looking for advertisers!
If you are in the wedding space and aren’t a current WeddingLovely vendor, here’s your chance to be a part of the Lookbook — or, if you are a current vendor and want some more promotion, this is a great opportunity to get even more press!
The above prices reflect placement in all 6 versions of the Lookbook. Pretty awesome deal isn’t it? Like last year, the Lookbook will be released online through Issuu (see it here) as well as print-on-demand through Magcloud (see here). The ads in the online version will click directly through to your site (we love SEO!)
If you are interested in placing an ad, you can download this PDF with more information with stats and pricing. And as always, email us if you have any questions!
The advertising deadline is April 23rd and the Lookbook is tentatively slated for release on May 7th.
Carolyn Burke Wedding Liaison took some time out of her busy schedule to give us an interview. You’ll see what I mean when you read the answer to her first question! Carolyn sure does have a lot to offer her brides. ;)
1. Tell us a bit about yourself and your company.
I’ve been a Professional Bridal Consultant since 2004 and wear three hats in the wedding industry. I’m an event location specialist in the St Louis Metropolitan area and consider myself a wedding consultant and not a wedding planner – there is a difference. I give advice on wedding-related resources and let the couple decide what resource works best for them. I am also a Wedding Celebrant and performed over 150 weddings in 2011 which has taken my business in a new direction. Lately I have been providing a package I call the “Super Liaison” service. It is where I coordinate AND officiate the event which is becoming a great value. Anything you can do to make your business unique is imperative.

I love Mondays, because I know it means that I get to look through all the great WeddingVideoLove vendors and select a video to share with you. Today, I chose Minty Slippers. This video of Andrew and Jessica’s destination wedding is a real tear jerker, get those tissues handy!
So, will you be having a wedding video?
We’re almost half way through April, can you believe it? I can’t either. I also can’t believe how much weddings have changed in the last 60 years. That beautiful woman in the white dress– that’s my grandmother in 1948. If these ladies only knew what bridal parties would look like in 2012!
On our blog this week:
