Most wedding photographers will be adept at different styles. But make sure that they are skilled in portraiture, which is of utmost importance, especially for a wedding. You can even ask him to show the pictures of weddings he previously covered so that you will be able to get a better idea about his work.

Will the photos be color balanced or retouched?

How long have you been working as a wedding photographer and how many weddings do you cover in a year?

Experience counts. Only experienced photographers will know how to get those shots under pressure. To get amazing wedding photos, you only have one chance so ask the right questions.

What exactly will you shoot on the day?

What you want to be captured should be conveyed to your wedding photographer. The big kiss during the wedding ceremony and the cake cutting pictures are a must. In addition, you might want the guests’ reactions, your parents’ face as you’re pronounced husband and wife, etc. So let your photographer know what you exactly want.

Does your package include videography and photo booths?

Photo booths are quite popular these days as they can add some fun element to the formal event. Your guests will be able to see their pictures on the spot and even share it on social media. Some of the photography companies give photo booths as an add-on to their photography package or else you can get a photo booth hire. Check if they will charge extra for videography. These details will help you compare costs to get the best value.

How many hours of coverage do we get? What is the charge for overtime?

You’ll be able to plan the hours accordingly if overtime is going to cost you a lot. If your photographer charges a huge hourly rate you may not be able to book him for an entire day. You will have to ask them to leave after the cake cutting ceremony. Or, to pay a little more upfront you may opt for a longer package.

How long after the wedding do we get to see the photos?

The wait can be pretty agonizing. Everyone would love to see photos ASAP. You can manage your expectations if you know in advance that photos will reach you only after a few weeks.

Have you ever shot at my venue before?

If the photographer is familiar with the venue he will know the lighting needs. If he is working at the venue for the first time he may have to check it out before the function.

What type of paper will you use for the prints and album?
