I love it when our wedding posts feature the vendors themselves! Amaraé is the Chief Event Strategist & Designer of Planning Perfection, based in Florida, and I’m so happy to run the photos of her wedding to Milton!
We have a ton of details and story — enjoy!
The Love Story… Milton and Amaraé met for the first time at the tender age of 12, while both attended a summer enrichment program. Milton knew that there was a distinct bond that drew them close together and later realized that Amaraé was the very special person that he was longing to meet. Their friendship continued to blossom as they grew from childhood into adolescence.
After high school graduation they kept in touch, even though both went their separate ways. Milton decided to travel abroad to attend college as a culinary student in West Palm Beach, FL. While Amaraé decided to stay in the U.S. Virgin Islands and attend the local university. After receiving her Bachelor of Arts Degree, Amaraé relocated to Fort Lauderdale to pursue her career and earn a M.B.A. During this time, sparks began to fly! Best friends Milton and Amaraé, have now bloomed into lovers. Each plays an integral role in bringing out the best in each other. Birds of a feather flock truly together!
On August 7, 2011, Milton asked Amaraé for her hand in marriage, while enjoying a weekend getaway in Miami. They had planned on enjoying a sunset cruise along the harbor, but hurricane Emily had another idea! Instead, the couple enjoyed a Spanish fest before returning to the hotel for a night cap. Milton insisted on visiting the resort’s tavern and as they walked back to the room, he got down on one knee and asked her to be his wife. Amarae was totally shocked, not only by the proposal, but also by her ring. The couple had been shopping around and she had fallen head over heels in love with a vintage style marquee ring. Amaraé had expressed her excitement to Milton and he told her that when he returned to purchase the ring, it had been sold. Little did she know he was the person that BOUGHT IT!
Given the respectful and family-oriented gentleman that he is, Milton had already received permission and blessings several weeks prior to the actual proposal. Additionally, He also made a special effort to ensure that one of the most important persons in her life was a big part of this life-changing occasion. He asked Amaraé to be his wife in the presence of her loving m0ther, Karen. For this, Amaraé will forever be grateful.
The wedding took place at the DoubleTree in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. The couple always wanted an event that would stand out from the crowd and decided on a peacock themed brunch wedding. Some of their happiest memories have been creating special dishes together in the kitchen. While they have prepared a variety of meals together, BRUNCH is certainly the couple’s favorite meal option, because it provides a world of menu possibilities. Thus the reason for them hosting a wedding brunch celebration, for their family and close friends to share in this tradition!
They decided to incorporate peacock feathers because they symbolize beauty, prosperity and royalty. Since peacocks are pure at heart, loyal and faithful to their partners, they also represent eternal love. Amaraé said “The peacock feathers compassed everything that we wanted our wedding day to be!” They decided on teal and lime for our color palette. This dynamic combination helped to set a vibrant mood for the morning affair. Amaraé stated, “With God’s help our marriage, like the peacock, will be a beautiful representation of loyalty, mercy, good fortune, and undying love.”
Milton and Amaraé are originally from the United States Virgin Islands. They wanted to infuse Afro-Caribbean culture into the occasion. They decided to incorporate a wedding libation into the ceremony and paid homage to their beloved ancestors. In addition, Milton and Amaraé chose to braid the cord of three strands, interweaving God into their union as husband and wife. Ecclesiastes 4:12, “Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” exemplifies the importance of Christian companionship.
The Bride’s mother did everything in her power to ensure that her only child received the best wedding day ever. Without the bride’s knowledge, her mother flew in Amaraé’s favorite singer all the way from the Virgin Islands. Her soulful voice wowed the wedding guests during the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception. During her first rendition, Amaraé was brought to tears and beamed with joy. This ceremony culminated with the releasing of two doves, which was also a big surprise from the bride’s loving godmother! Amaraé said, “It was incredible to witness the joy and love that we both share take flight on our wedding day!”
