We saw their beautiful summery Australian engagement shoot, and now Baylee & Martin are married! Carly Hack Photography shared with us their beautiful wedding photos, complete with an interview so you can read more about their wedding! Enjoy:
What was your inspiration for your celebration (i.e. what made you choose venues – ceremony & reception)?
We both wanted to get married in a garden, but also wanted to try and pick a venue that (hopefully) none of our friends and family had been to before. We found Wairoa Property through the Bride’s Diary, as it was mentioned as one of the top 10 places for photos. After looking at a few gardens, we visited Wairoa and knew it was where we wanted to get married.
We did want to originally have the whole event in the garden, just put up a marque to have our reception close by, but Wairoa unfortunately no longer allow this (which I can understand), and Martin suggested the Mortlock Library because we both love the look and feel of the room (being into history and books)!
Once we knew we could get both for the same date, we were set!
What inspired you to choose the colours and flowers?
I picked my florist, Fleurs de Nadia, when I went to the Bower Bird Bazaar at the showgrounds. Nadia supplies the flowers for these events and I loved the bright colours. When we went to visit her pop up shop in Croydon, she had a range of arrangements for sale and there was a natural purple bunch that I fell in love with. It also helped that my bridesmaids had picked the plum colour of their dresses. I bought the bunch on the spot and let her run with what she recommended for the day!
What’s the story behind Martin having 7 groomsmen and you only 2 bridesmaids?
I think I always knew who I wanted for my bridesmaids, so my choice was easy. Martin, had it a little tougher. He has an amazing group of close friends and he was not keen on having to pick two just to even up on the numbers. He thought he would go with either having no groomsmen, or all seven! I was definitely more keen on the idea of all seven, and after careful consideration, Martin thought the idea of having seven groomsmen to two bridesmaids would add a little humour to the occasion!
As it turned out, the photos looked great, and having such a large (and lopsided) bridal party, added much more fun to our day.
Did the day fall into places as you expected? Were there any surprises?
I think we both had a perfect day. It was raining in the morning, but I don’t think either of us were really too worried about it. As it turned out, the rain cleared about 30 minutes before the ceremony and the garden looked perfect. We couldn’t have asked for a better day!
