This fun, Victorian themed wedding comes to us from James Ramsay Photography, based in St Paul, Minnesota! Here’s what James has to say about the wedding:
Julia and Ben were studying abroad in Japan, when they met each other. Since then, the’ve been inseparable, building their lives in Minnesota, with Ben working as a YMCA Youth Director and Julia as a Merchandising and Promotional Specialist at the Target Corp. Designing their wedding day, they knew they’d incorporate their family histories along with their own story. They chose Steampunk inspired elements and Victorian costumes. Their color palette consisted of metallurgical elements in antique golds, coppers and aged steely greys; along with peacock colors of deep purples, plum and teal.

They were married in Julia’s childhood church and rode to the church and venue with a bus driver Ben has worked with for years via the YMCA. The reception was held at Lowertown Event Center. This historic building was built in 1889 and features exposed wood, brick, and metal beams which enhanced their industrial, steampunk inspiration.
The reception tables were dressed with gold and glitter vases filled with local fauna along with peacock feathers and plum florals. The cake was decorated with steampunk gears and metallic finishes. Guests were seated at tables named after steampunk and victorian elements such as Dirigible, Spectacles, and Pocketwatch. Cocktail hour featured a photobooth with victorian costume pieces for guests to don. The couple treated their guests to steampunk-decorated cake, graphic cake pops and a buffet of their favorite Japanese snacks.
Congratulations Julia & Ben and thank you James for sharing! For more information about James Ramsay Photography, please visit his website.
