Today’s real wedding comes to us from Jo Ann of Apropos Creations, LLC. The Desert Botanical Garden setting is so striking and unique, we just had to share! Here’s more about the wedding and the happy couple from Jo Ann:
See more after the cut!
Lauren and Denny met the old school way, through a blind date back in 2010. They’re both busy bodies and were out of town a lot. They trusted me with everything as long as it fit the pocket, as well as their (mostly hers) wedding vision. I love the fact they were able to come to me and just say, “Sounds great, Jo Ann. Let’s do it.”.
It was a sunny and bright day in the desert and everyone’s spirits were high. I also loved that Denny, the groom, had his grandfather’s photo in his tie tack photo locket. It was such a very sweet gesture, especially being captured in photo showing it to his grandmother.
During open dancing, however, Denny’s father was getting everyone to dance, when all of a sudden, he slips on the floor and faked it as if he did it on purpose. He was fine, no broken bones!
The biggest challenge was the traffic getting into Desert Botanical Garden. Lauren and Denny’s wedding fell on the same night as the last night of Music In The Garden, and they also had Chihuly In The Garden Exhibition. We had one limo full of guests stuck in the traffic and we communicated with the park rangers, the Garden staff, and the bride and groom. We waited for the guests to arrive and Lauren and Denny were okay to start late. Communication is key. This was completely out of our control and as long we kept them posted on the situation, they were happy.
Lauren really wanted Sunny, their pooch, to be part of their wedding as the ring bearer even if Sunny is a female. Being at The Desert Botanical Garden, it was a challenge, but the Garden was able to make an exception as long as we abide with their condition and everyone was happy.
