Today’s real wedding, brought to us by The Burks Photography, is so sweet and it dispels the myth that you have to break the bank to have the perfect wedding! Here’s what the bride has to say about the big day:
We didn’t want to go in debt for a wedding and we knew that we would be covering the majority of the expenses on our own, so we had to get creative in our planning and preparations. However, I can honestly say that we still had the wedding of our dreams, even though we only spent a little over $2,000.
See more after the cut!
First, we had a small, intimate wedding—we only invited about 100 people. We didn’t want a big wedding anyway and our budget really helped us keep our guest list to family and close friends.
We used the chapel and the banquet hall at the university where we met, and we got a heavily discounted rate for being students/graduates. We ordered our flowers from the grocery store as opposed to a florist.
My wedding dress was vintage and I got it for $80 off of Ebay. I also made sure to get shoes and jewelry that I would wear again, and believe me, I definitely have! Our musicians at the ceremony were close friends. For the reception, we made a playlist of old jazz/swing music on my husband’s phone and hooked it into the speakers.
