This exuberantly fun real wedding comes to us from Laura Segall Photography based in Chandler, Arizona! Here’s Laura to tell us more:
I had been looking forward to Rhonda and Dereck’s wedding for over a year, ever since Rhonda told me about her ambitious wedding ideas. The planning and coordination for this day had been in the works for well over two years. Rhonda and Dereck were married on the last day of the Arizona State Fair in early November. The day, the unique details and the overall style and aesthetic were everything I had imagined and hoped for and more. The day was filled to the brim with color and joyful emotion.
See more after the cut!
The bridesmaids were styled with 1940s pin-up rolled hair and carried pink cotton candy (actually it was amazing pink fur Rhonda found on Etsy) instead of a traditional flower bouquet. The first time I ever met Rhonda she showed me pictures on her phone of ideas for her wedding and some gorgeous red shoes and it was so incredible to see it all come to life. Her handmade brooch bouquet was simply exquisite in detail. When I asked Rhonda and Dereck about the overall style they said “fun” and it was that in spades.
From the accordion player at cocktail hour, to the antique mini carousals on each table to the watching the bride sing in her wedding gown, “fun” is an understatement. The ceremony was held on the historic Wallace and Ladmo stage with on lookers from the public cheering them on. Dereck walked down the aisle singing Johnny Cash’s I Walk the Line, Rhonda and Dereck mixed M&Ms into a gum ball machine (instead of a sand ceremony) and in addition to their first kiss they pinky swore to each other they would always be true. The reception was held outside the Arizona Veterans Memorial Coliseum on a balcony overlooking the lights and rides and sounds of the fair below.
Congratulations Rhonda and Dereck and thank you Laura for sharing! For more information about Laura Segall Photography, please visit her website.
