Whimsy and elegance blend beautifully in this rustic wedding invitation suite brought to us by Laura Macchia, based in Montpelier, VT! Here’s Laura to tell us more:

This letterpress suite was designed for Rich and Sasha’s summer wedding in beautiful Stowe, Vermont. After our first conversation, it was clear that Sasha wanted invitations that would give their guests a feel for her home state. She was also really attracted to my custom venue illustrations so we decided the main invitation would feature the lovely Austrian-inspired Trapp Family Lodge.

The Camel’s Hump mountain ridge line is an iconic Vermont landmark close to Sasha’s heart. I love how the simple silhouette balances out the intricacy of the lodge.

Since this is a destination wedding for most guests, the couple thought it would be a good idea to include two maps on a double-sided card. One side is a property map of the lodge, which we made unique by adding fun motifs for the ceremony and reception sites. The other side features a road map of the area, which gave me a chance to carry over the pine trees and add a pop of the green used throughout the other pieces.

To make their invitations even more special, I designed a pretty custom botanical pattern for the inner envelope liner. The organic lines and shapes in soft gray provide a nice contrast to the bold lodge and map illustrations. The combination of all these elements gives the suite a true rustic-elegant look.
