Spring 2018 Wedding Dress Trends
The Simple Wedding Dress
Simple and understated is all the rage for 2018. These gowns are not only beautiful, romantic and effortless, but luxurious to the touch. The amazing thing is they are adorned with…. absolutely nothing! No lace and no beading — just a simple romantic wedding dress. When such gowns drape over a stunning and glowing bride’s skin, magic happens. Her beauty and spirit will shine from within and everyone will be mesmerized as she floats down the aisle in all her simplistic grace and beauty. So don’t believe the hype! A wedding dress doesn’t have to be blinged out or covered with lace to be beautiful. Simple is beautiful!

Less Structured Silhouettes
Whoever said pain is beauty? Gone are the days of fitted-to-the-body (aka can’t breathe!) gowns. Times are changing and silhouettes are too. Today’s bride wants to be comfortable on her special day, ditching the tightly fitted lace or mermaid wedding gown. Millennial brides, in particular, are looking for a little less structure and more movement in the gown accompanied by effortless details. Comfort, however, doesn’t mean sacrificing beauty! The gorgeous sheath style stills shows off a small waist and curve of the hip but has less structure and flair in the skirt… it’s a marriage of the two styles, and simply breathtaking.
Romantic Dress Sleeves
Designers are creating the most romantic looks with long sleeve wedding gowns, three-quarter sleeves, cap sleeves… any type of sleeve you want, really! That’s why it’s important to have an open mind when you visit your local boutique. Your bridal stylist may find a gorgeous wedding dress with most of the details that you want, but the only thing that is missing is a romantic lace sleeve. Well, why not design it yourself? Your stylist can order fabric for you and a seamstress can design and create your sleeves any way you like. You can use Pinterest to find photos of wedding dress sleeves that you’d love for her to use as inspiration. The result? A one-of-a-kind wedding dress that you LOVE!

How to Get The Best Deal
Avoid Couture Boutiques
Most local boutiques provide a variety of designers and therefore a variety of price points. Some boutiques, however, are what we call “couture”. This is a term used to mostly group wedding dress designers that use expensive fabrics, lace, and beadwork. They tend to have more of a unique or edgy look in their designs — sometimes a little strange or extreme. These boutiques can range in price from $2,000 – $20,000 for one single wedding dress. Ouch! We know that is a lot of money to spend on one dress that you will only wear for 5 hours…
Go Local and Mainstream
Looking for something not quite so edgy, sheer, and expensive? There are many other local boutiques that offer wedding dress designers that are more mainstream and that don’t break the bank. These designers create wedding gown designs that target every type of bride. For example, designers like Maggie Sottero will design wedding gowns that are simple yet ornate from traditional church style to boho chic to light, airy destination beach wedding style. We recommend Maggie Sottero because the quality of their fabrics, beadwork, and lace is exquisite — the craftsmanship of their gowns is top notch and their prices are affordable retailing from $800 – $1,800.

Snag a Bridal Gown Sample Sale
If you’re a budget-savvy bride, however, these prices still sound like a lot more than you are comfortable spending. Never fear, for there are other options. Most boutiques will have bridal gown sample sales that offer their sample wedding dresses at a discount. These sales are a great opportunity for you to find a trendy style at a steal!
Browse Used Wedding Dress Websites
There are also websites that offer wedding dresses for sale. Many times these websites include wedding dresses that are being sold by the bride and again offered at huge discounts. Check out SellMyDress.com for a great selection of used wedding dresses. These types of websites are a great way for brides to get rid of their wedding dress after the wedding. We understand some brides want to hold onto their dress forever, but some of us just don’t have an emotional attachment and really just want to recoup some money from the wedding. What a great idea! After all, weddings are expensive!
The key to finding the perfect dress for you is to know the latest styles and what you feel comfortable rocking down the aisle. You’ll also want to to know beforehand how much you want to spend and the absolute max you’re willing to spend. Set your own comfort level and budget and you’ll soon be on your way to finding the dress of your dreams!
