Today’s wedding stationer interview is with Ruth Bleakley, Owner/Designer at Concertina Press, based in Cocoa Beach, FL! Enjoy:
How did you get started doing wedding invitations?
I’ve always loved paper and stationery stores – I remember one of my favorite hobbies as a kid was collecting and trading stickers! After college, I got my dream job working at a small stationery store on Cape Cod. It was there I put my graphic design degree to work creating wedding invitations for couples who came in the shop. When that store closed in 2011, it was a turning point for me because I decided to take my own designs online and started Concertina Press. I decided to specialize in nautical wedding invitations because I love the ocean and am fortunate to live close by (even now that I live down here in sunny Florida!). I also love old science illustrations, so I often use them to create unusual and beautiful invites for folks getting married at the beach or even at the aquarium. My Cape Cod Save the Dates and Cape Cod wedding invitations remain popular – that’s where I was married too, in 2007.
