How did you get started doing wedding invitations?

Coming from the world of Advertising where campaigns and designing for corporates was something I was mainly into, being a wedding invitation designer was never in my radar. It just happened!  A friend of mine was getting married and I was roped in by her to design her invite. I was a little apprehensive at first as it was my very first attempt in designing a brides dream invite. But as I started it seemed so much fun and my creative juices would flow easily without worrying about parameters and I found myself enjoying it thoroughly. This set the ball rolling and soon I was setting the tone for the most important day of a brides and grooms life.

Meet a Wedding Stationer in Cincinnati, OH: Hello Invite (4)

Today’s wedding stationer interview is with Melissa of Hello Invite, based in Cincinnati, Ohio! Enjoy:

How did you get started doing wedding invitations?

The truth is, it found me. When my husband and I got married, I did all of our wedding paper goodies. I loved every minute of it, thinking this would be so much fun to do for a living!  I was so shocked at how many compliments we received from the invites to the programs and reception mementos. On our wedding day, I was talking with one of our guests and that’s actually where my first real “job” came from; rehearsal dinner invitations!  I was so excited. I agreed to do them on the spot! What started through that one set of 30 rehearsal dinner invites, quickly grew through word of mouth and now here we are almost 5 years later and I’m busier and happier than ever. I never could have imagined how this dream would take over my life, make me look at the world differently, and even take up an entire room of our house! It was completely unexpected, and I think those are the best surprises life can give you. That’s how you know it’s truly meant to be!

This crisp, understated wedding invitation suite comes to us from Sandy of Roseville Designs, based in Milford, CT! Here’s Sandy to tell us more:

The Hamptons Suite is one of the fun + light designs from The Rosy Collection by Roseville Designs. I created the collection to give clients a more affordable option than her custom design work, but still offering them the same level of service that comes with being a Roseville client. One of her brides fell in love with this design, and we worked to customize it to her color palette of blues and white. We also designed a welcome bag sticker and other day-of paper details to complement the invitation design.
