The wedding tuxedo holds a hallowed place in the formal wear hall of fame. It is the go-to option when a bride and groom are looking for that ultra-formal and forever classy look. But does it have to be so uniform in style and shape? Well, the short answer is no, but finding an alternative option isn’t always that easy. So unless you want to look back in years to come on a wedding album that’s more like a prom book, take our advice and read on.
When it all Began
The origins of the most formal piece of menswear date back to the late 1800s when a wealthy tobacconist had the regular tails worn at formal events shortened for his annual ball held in Tuxedo Park. The social elite followed suit (pardon the pun) and the tuxedo was born. Throughout the years to come, fashion trends have come and go, but the tuxedo refuses to be pushed aside.
