Today’s wedding stationer interview is with Lauren Fennell, the Creative Director at Greenvelope, a company specializing in elegant online invitations! Enjoy:
How did you get started doing wedding invitations?
I have a background in art history and fine art curation, so I was looking for work in a creative field after returning to Seattle from two years of teaching English in other countries. I met our CEO, Sam, through a mutual friend who mentioned he was looking for some help with the aesthetic direction of the site. At the time, Greenvelope was only Sam, our remote developer, Kyle, and a freelance UI designer. He needed someone with a good eye to curate the collection while he focused on customer service and development.
I didn’t initially intend to work in the wedding industry specifically, but it’s been absolutely wonderful to blend wedding and tech into one career. I feel so lucky to have been exposed to this industry! I get to work with couples to make sure the best day of their life is announced in style, without too many weird font combinations! The designers I work with are just bursting with creativity, and they never fail to amaze me with their fresh ideas and techniques. I think the wedding industry is lucky to have them!
