Today’s styled shoot comes to us from Mallory Ruggiero of Photography by Mallory, based in Boston, MA! Here’s Mallory to tell us more:
Colleen of Colleen Elizabeth Makeup contacted me about putting together a bridal session. I shoot a lot of weddings, and don’t always have time to do a long bridal session, if one at all. I think it’s important to capture some photos of just the bride. The bride spends so much time, and money, into making her day, and herself looking her best, why not spend a little extra time capturing her? I believe that every single bride is beautiful, and I make sure to try and capture that. This session was extra special to me, as I got to spend a whole 2 hours just photographing this gorgeous girl!
See more after the cut!
Colleen mentioned she had a model in mind, and a bridal shop that would lend us a dress. We came up with the perfect location, set a date and had me SO excited to shoot this session. We wanted to go with a classic bride look. We kept our brides hair simple with curls, and more basic makeup, and soft pink lips. For jewelry, we went with pearls, which are in her earrings, bracelet, necklace, and even adorned on her dress. A classic bride that is such a timeless look, and still very popular to this day. For any bride looking for inspiration for a classic look, this is definitely a session to look at!
We started the session off simple, in my favorite area of Colt State Park. Coming off a very harsh New England weather, Spring hasn’t quite hit us yet. However, I loved the contrast of the beautiful bride, against the bare trees just starting to bud. From there, we went to the chapel area of the park. Not many people realize that Colt State Park has an area for weddings. It was my first time shooting in this specific area, and it was my favorite! The long benches and columns were just beautiful with the ocean in the background. From there we went to this stone bridge, which overlooked the water and had a soft breeze, which worked great for photos with her veil!
