Today’s wedding venue walkthrough is of the luxurious The Peacock Room, located in Rochdale, England and our tourguide is Tina Galasso, the venue’s Events Coordinator. Enjoy!

Tell us a bit about your venue.

The Peacock Room is a glamorous Art Deco style restaurant situated on the beautiful grounds of a converted manor house, in the rural outskirts of Rochdale, Lancashire, in the UK. Licenced to hold wedding ceremonies and with two AA Rosettes and a Michelin Knife and Fork award, the Peacock Room has earned an outstanding reputation for its weddings an offers the ultimate fine dining venue for foodie couples. The impressive Fenton’s Lounge, within the original manor house, offers additional space for an evening reception, while our sister hotel, less than three miles away, offers accommodation as well as complimentary return taxi journeys between the venues.

What makes your business unique?

The Peacock Room’s glamorous and opulent interior. With its 1920’s Art Deco inspired furnishings and magnificent crystal chandeliers, it provides a uniquely impressive backdrop and the opportunity for creating some stunning wedding photography. We also offer a uniquely bespoke approach, with extremely high standards of service and flexibility. Part of this is to offer a wedding breakfast menu of dishes that are tailor-made and unique to each couple.

Do you target any particular niche?

We attract many couples who are looking to place outstanding food at the heart of their wedding day as well as those who want the flexibility for something a little bit different! Many of our couples also choose us for our restaurant’s striking and glamorous interior, particularly if they are planning an Art Deco theme. With our sister hotel close by, we also cater to couples who want every detail of their wedding ceremony, reception and accommodation taken care of without travel stresses.

What’s your favorite part of the job?

I love working with people, and particularly the opportunity to work closely with couples to find out what they’d really like and to help them to realize their wedding dreams.

How do you help couples customize their weddings?

This is where we excel! We offer an extremely bespoke wedding service and therefore welcome all couples’ suggestions and ideas for something a little bit different. Our wedding team and Head Chef take a personal approach and always work closely with couples to create a wedding and menu unique to them.

Do you have any funny stories about a past wedding or event?

One funny and also truly nerve-racking wedding was when the bride surprised the groom with his own wedding! He’d ask her to marry him a number of times and she never agreed but instead decided to surprise him (and all the other guests) by turning what he thought was his 40th birthday party into their wedding! When the bride appeared in her wedding dress, his face was a picture of disbelief and joy – he was delighted as where all the other friends and family – thankfully….phew!

What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned?

I have learned to always support and encourage couples to put themselves first! It can feel like there’s a lot of pressure to please other family members and friends but ultimately, if the couple is happy and relaxed then everyone is!

Any tips for brides on the hunt for a venue?

When choosing your wedding venue, don’t be afraid to be thorough and ask lots of questions. Also don’t be afraid to make suggestions or requests. Usually, venues are more than happy to go with your ideas.
