Today were’re taking a virtual tour of Hemlock Springs located in Rogers, KY and our tourguide is the venue’s owner, Liz! Enjoy:

Tell us a bit about your venue.

Recently named as one of the hottest new venues in the World, Hemlock Springs is a whimsical forest venue situated in the breathtakingly beautiful Red River Gorge in Kentucky, 1-hour east of Lexington. Conveniently located, and yet delightfully secluded, Hemlock Springs welcomes you and your guests to a private 100-acre estate. From the stunning woodland ceremony site to the luxurious dressing rooms and reception space, to the many comfortable lounge areas, you’ll feel at ease and pampered on your special day.

What makes your business unique?

We utilized Amish craftsmen in the construction of our venue and the attention to detail and unique touches are obvious. From the giant Douglas Fir beams fitted together with notches and pegs, to the custom woodwork, doors and trim, we spared no expense to give you a classy, stylish and well designed space to celebrate.

We also put great emphasis on being environmentally and socially conscious. We wanted to have minimal impact on our beautiful surrounds, so we utilized green-building techniques and reclaimed materials throughout the venue. This focus on the environment is evident in the Hemlock Grove ceremony site in particular. Only one part of a tree was cut during the construction of the site to make the natural aisle. We left the rest of the trees standing and tucked benches among them for your guests to enjoy the shade and organic beauty of the forest.

Do you target any particular niche?

We believe in celebrating outdoors as much as possible and we have designed our indoor spaces to invite the outdoors in. The mountain, meadow, and forest views of our area are beautiful year round, and we encourage everyone to enjoy them.

What’s your favorite part of the job?

I love the creativity that comes with designing a beautiful space and continuing to improve on the venue. My favorite part of my job is sharing our venue with others and watching them enjoy themselves and celebrate in the space.

How do you help couples customize their weddings?

We love when couples have new, fun and creative ideas that we can help turn into reality! We have a wide network of vendors, local artists, and outdoor experts to whom we can refer couples to help customize their special day.

Do you have any funny stories about a past wedding or event?

While it’s not a past event, it’s still a funny story. During construction, the Amish crew could be heard yodeling. At first, we thought it was the radio, but then when we went into the reception room, we saw that it was actually the head carpenter! That was the day we learned the acoustics in the room were fantastic for live music!

What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned?

Customer service cannot be underestimated! We try our best to treat our clients the way we would want to be treated. Our clients are important to us and we truly care about providing the most beautiful space we can for their wedding day. We want them and their guests to feel comfortable and at home while they’re with us and to have the most amazing experience ever. Once you book with Hemlock Springs, you become a part of our family.

Any tips for brides on the hunt for a venue?

Be sure to spend enough time in the space on your tour to make sure you’re comfortable. You should never feel rushed or pressured during your tour. Most importantly, you should also ask if the venue is a permitted facility. There are many venues that aren’t, and that can be disastrous for your wedding! States are beginning to shut unpermitted venues down, and in some cases, this has happened just days before a wedding. Save yourself the headache, and please ask this question in advance.
