This delightful and colorful wedding comes to us from Janine Deanna Photography, based in Alberta, Canada! Here’s Cassi, the lovely bride, to tell us more:
Cody and I both grew up in Carbon, AB. He was a few years older than me, so I didn’t really know him, but I knew of him. I decided I didn’t like him very much one Halloween when he smashed a pumpkin my sister had carved on to my parent’s car and my Dad chased him down the street. I was even less impressed when several years later I showed up to my Driver’s Ed class in Three Hills and saw Cody sitting in my class. While he had lost his license due to a stunting incident, I assumed at the time that he had a DUI, and in my teenage snobbery, turned up my nose at him. My Dad offered to give him a ride to class as he was driving there without a license at the time. It was during these drives that I got to know Cody a little bit, enough so that I was comfortable saying “hi” to him if I saw him on the street. Many years later, we became Facebook friends and he sent me a few messages.
See more after the cut!
I was polite, but still very wary and rejected his advances. (I’m sure he would tell that part differently, but I have a far better memory than he does…) A couple years ago, Cody posted a status that I commented on, and he again sent me a couple chat messages. He asked if I wanted to meet up with him, and I decided I would give him a chance. We went to Melrose in Calgary for dinner and drinks and I found myself feeling extremely comfortable with Cody almost immediately. I tried to play it cool, but I knew I wanted to see him again. A couple dates later and I was hooked! Breaking the news to my parents was a bit scary, but they forgave him for the pumpkin incident when he showed up with a jack-o-lantern squash the first time he “met” them. (He couldn’t find a pumpkin…) And the rest is history!
Our wedding planning experience started out very rocky. We both work out of town, so we had given ourselves 2 years to plan our wedding in order to avoid unnecessary stress. Shortly after getting engaged, we had won the grand prize at a Bridal Fair, which was a fully paid for dream wedding. After a year and a half of attempting to work with the prize organizer to book vendors and actually plan the wedding, we realized that our wedding was not going to happen as we had been told it was. We were left exhausted with 6 months to plan our wedding. Luckily we were able to hire an amazing wedding planner who pulled it all together for us and gave us our dream wedding! The day was better then we could have imagined it could be and left us with memories that we will cherish for a lifetime.
