Today’s wedding stationer interview is with Jackie Asta, designer and owner of RSVP Custom Creations, based in Montvale, New Jersey.
How did you get started doing wedding invitations?
In 2006 I ordered my daughters 1st birthday invitations on Ebay. When I received them I thought to myself “I can do this”. After a few months of researching invitation software, printers and card stock, I started designing children’s birthday party invitations. I had my first sale on Ebay and I still remember the design and the buyer’s name. As I got more comfortable in my designs, I branched out to baby showers, bridal showers, weddings, etc.

My favorite color combination is purple and gold. I had my company logo and website designed in those colors. They just look so elegant to me.
What is the most unique invitation you have designed?
The most unique invitation I designed was a wedding invitation that was mailed to guests in a box. It was a double layered blue and gold themed invitation adorned with an ivory satin ribbon and large rhinestone brooch. It was elegantly sent in a gold box gift wrapped in metallic blue paper. It cost almost $3 to mail out each invitation, but what a statement it made when the guests received them in the mail!
Do you have a favorite typeface?
I love Great Vibes or Chopin Script. Both are beautiful cursive fonts, yet easy for the guests to read. From personal experience, Brides need to keep in mind that older guests have a hard time reading very fancy font, so that needs to be taken into consideration when creating your invitations.
I had a client planning a Halloween Wedding. She wanted a Skeleton bride and groom on the invitation. I was able to find the perfect image for her, and a great blood type font. It was so morbid but she loved it!
Ampersand or the word “and?”
I prefer ampersand. There are some beautiful ones available on the Internet.
My advice is, you do not need your invitations to match your bridesmaid dress colors. Do not feel the need for everything to be coordinated.
Do you offer more than just stationery?
Yes, I offer more than just stationery. I offer escort cards, favor tags, labels, menu cards, drink menus and more!
