Today’s guest post, brought to us by Focus Productions shares some compelling reasons why you should consider Toronto’s Distillery District for your engagement shoot. Enjoy!
When we talk about the Distillery Historic District in Toronto, Canada, what first comes to mind is the cultural heritage of this historical site in Toronto. The Distillery District is located in Downtown Toronto, and also offers many choices for dining, sightseeing and shopping. All these popular establishments are housed inside the grand heritage buildings formerly called the Gooderham and Worts Distillery, where all 40 acres of its compounds are filled with 40 buildings and 10 streets built with a Victorian era architectural design.

Going back in history, the Gooderham and Worts Distillery was considered the largest distillery in the world. This distillery is that largest provider of whisky globally. This place has really made a mark in the history of Canada, which is why the government is doing its best to preserve the historical heritage of the place.
Today, the place has become very popular because it houses boutiques of Toronto’s finest designers, artisan shops, awesome art galleries, world-class cafés and luxurious fine dining restaurants. When people visit Ontario, the Distillery Historic District is a must-see place, as it offers great entertainment that blended perfectly with a feeling of elegance and sophistication. With its multitude of galleries and shops, Distillery District is definitely the tourist attraction of choice when visiting Ontario.
Distillery District is one of the most talked about engagement photography locations in Toronto, not only amongst Canadians, but even with couples from other countries. The sign on its walls, with its main theme “Love and The Distillery” conveys the perfect message of love, and is a popular spot for photos. Other places often chosen by professional wedding photographers include secluded walkways in between the Victorian-inspired buildings, which has a rustic, old school feel with the red brick walls and vintage signs.
Engagement photography should not only be about beautiful, posed pictures, but should also include natural, carefree photos showcasing the couple’s real selves. Distillery District is one of the best places for shots like these, mainly because of the variety of different locations where the couple can let lose and have fun at. Walking down the lovely streets, having a glass of wine in one of the restaurants, even stealing a kiss at a stairway, all these moments where natural emotions flow are always the best to be captured by a photographer.
Sealing your love with a kiss is often seen, but in Distillery District, your love can also be sealed with a padlock. The “Love Lock” section in the area, similar to the Pont des Arts Bridge in Paris, houses thousands of locks with messages from loved up couples. This is a place where promises are made, and even when you have left, the lock that carries your love will always remain.
