This fun styled shoot comes to us from Meredith Corning of Meredith Events, based in Little Rock, Arkansas! Here’s Meredith to tell us more:
I would like to take you back in time when Queen Marie Antoinette had close friendships with her ladies-in-waiting. Ladies-in-waiting were often given to queens after marriage into a royal family and served as confidants, reading correspondence to her and writing on her behalf; embroidery, painting, horse riding, music making and participation in other queenly pastimes; wardrobe care; supervision of servants; keeping her mistress abreast of activities and personages at court, and discreetly relaying messages upon command. History reveals that several of Marie Antoinette’s ladies-in-waiting acquired political influence and wealth.
See more after the cut!
If we were to translate this scenario into the modern world, ladies-in-waiting would be similar to a woman’s best friends or even their bridesmaids. Fancy, little social climbers they would be :-) Certainly, a modern-day interpretation of a lady-in-waiting would look much different than that of Marie Antoinette’s time, but how so?
Our team pulled together this photo shoot at a grand wedding venue in Central Arkansas called the Castle on Stagecoach. Our fashion designers used their skills to hand-craft the dresses our ladies-in-waiting wore during the photo shoot. Our cake designer researched historical influences in cake design during the times of Marie Antoinette and then put her own spin on the design. We opted for jewel tones as a juxtaposition on the familiar pastels one normally sees in this type of themed photography.
